It's not what you're thinking. No, I'm talking about makeovers.
This week, I did something really drastic. I got my hair cut. For a couple of years now I've had long hair. The thing about my hair is it is really fine, and it doesn't sit well when it's long. So it usually ends up just dragging my face down and making me look older than I am. So I decided to do something about it and go short. It's not boyishly short, by any means, but it's a style which suits the type of hair I have and it's away from my face a little, which makes it more 'open'.
Anyway, I'm going to be spending the next few weeks just spending a little bit of my pay on myself. Doing a bit of a makeover. It's amazing what just a few changes can actually do to boost your mood. Yesterday, I went to work with my new haircut and got quite a few compliments and let me tell you, that really does boost your ego.
I'd really like to be able to dress more professionally, but I need to lose a lot of weight first - but that's another story. It's not that I really need to at work, because it's smart casual, but I read somewhere (I think it might have been a movie quote) that if you dress badly, people notice the clothes. If you dress well, they notice the woman. Or something like that. And it makes me feel good to look good. And I'm hoping one day to return to the job I was born to do, which is journalism.
Anyway, I didn't do my homework this week. I have no excuse except that I have been working overtime at work and have been too tired to do anything but crawl into bed by the end of the day and just vege.
But I have been thinking a lot about clubs. We have one particular nightclub here in Auckland, called Boogie Wonderland. I've never been to it because I've heard the door charge is over-priced. And it's apparently sort of exclusive. No one I know goes there, but then again, most of the people I know are a lot younger than me so it wouldn't be their place anyway.
Boogie Wonderland, from what I've heard, is just like the song era it is named after - with music from the seventies and eighties, which suits me to a tee (I'm dating myself here).
I thought, if I had the money, I would invest in a club which is on similar lines to Boogie Wonderland, but one that would be for any age group (as long as they like pop or rock and roll music) where the patrons are not allowed to bring booze. In other words, a club for the teetotallers. I would invite bands in to play live, even cover bands, and there would be no 'house' or techno music. Hmm, I wonder if that kind of club would be workable?
I guess this means more homework. And no excuses this time. It's not like I can say the dog ate my homework, since it's all on computer. And I don't have a dog.
Catch you next time.
